33 week update!

How far along?  33 weeks + 3 days
Total weight gain/measurements: No trips to the scales this week, maybe next week 😉
Maternity clothes: I don’t think I will be buying any more maternity clothes. I’m on the hunt for a good Christmas jumper though!
Stretch marks: Nothing yet. Although my belly button is looking a little sore around my old piercing (FYI I’m not wearing a bar, and haven’t worn one for about two years!)
Sleep: It’s not getting any better so I’m making the most of what I can get, no matter how uncomfortable it is!
Best moment this week: Our day out in Brighton with our friends yesterday. We all had a lovely time, I was quite surprised that I managed to last the entire day without getting too tired or achy. I think we planned our day well with plenty of rest stops so that I wasn’t too worn out. I am feeling it today though, my pelvis is sore and I didn’t manage to sleep very well. We all ate too much food and we both had a bit of a food hangover this morning!
Miss anything? Beer! We went to an American restaurant last night and everyone shared two giant pitchers of beer, and I sat there with my lemonade. I was very sad! We will have to go back there at some point 🙂
Movement: Baby is attacking me at all angles and it is wonderful haha! I really enjoy feeling the baby fidget even if it does hurt some times. I get woken up by either a punch to my bladder or a kick in my ribs. That isn’t very pleasant, and I cannot go back to sleep after that. I have to go to the loo, and then the baby is well and truly awake and practising their ninja skills!
Food cravings: Still nothing in particular. I haven’t had much of an appetite, I guess there really isn’t much room in there for food!
Anything making you queasy or sick? Still the indigestion.
Gender: I can’t wait to find out! I’m so excited about our big surprise at the birth. My gut feeling still tells me boy, but I really just don’t know. I’ll be just as happy if a baby girl pops out, as long as the baby is OK!!
Labour signs: None
Symptoms: Tiredness, forgetfulness, extremely clumsy, pelvic pain and indigestion!
Belly button in or out? Still in, it’s funny to watch when baby is pushing behind it. It looks so much like it is going to pop out when he/she is wiggling around beneath it!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Still quite grumpy. I’m getting really fed up with work at the moment. Some people are forgetting that there are some things that I can’t do any more. It isn’t through choice! I’ve been told by my boss not to use kick stools or go to certain parts of the hospital alone. I’ve been told by my physio that I cannot push trolleys or lift anything heavier than a kettle full of water. They all know this, but why do I feel bad when I ask them to do something for me? Or remind them that no, I can’t push that trolley! *deep breath* 3 weeks until I can start my maternity! I am counting down the days!!
Looking forward to: Next weekends event is my baby shower! A couple of my friends have arranged it and I only know two things about it: the time and the place. I’m a little nervous about it. I’ve only been to one baby shower. It is something that is quite new to England I think, and not many people I know have been to one, hosted one or had one thrown for them, apart from one of my friends who has organised mine. I’m not really sure what to expect and I’m a little nervous about having a lot of attention on me. I’m sure it will be lovely, I just hope that people don’t go overboard with the gifts!

32 Week Update – 8 weeks and counting!

32 wks
Bump at 32 weeks!
How far along?  32 weeks + 3 days
Total weight gain/measurements: Matt fixed the scales…I have put on a total of 20 pounds since I was 4 weeks pregnant. Not bad I think!
Maternity clothes: Nothing new this week.
Stretch marks: Still nothing, fingers crossed it stays that way! I’ve used up two bottles of the Palmers Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Cream so far, looks like it’s doing it’s job!
Sleep: Sleep is still quite difficult. One thing we have both noticed is the amount of people telling us to ‘stock up on sleep! You won’t get much when baby is here!’ How on earth do you stock up on sleep?! We can make the most of lie ins etc, but to be honest I can’t lie in anyway! I can’t sleep as much as I would like because I have a basket ball in my belly that is so heavy and moves all the time, pelvic pain and the occasional leg cramp, I’m pretty sleep deprived already haha!
Best moment this week: Date night! We both decided to have a couple of date nights before the baby’s arrival and we had our first one last night. We used to do it all of the time but things have been so busy lately, and I’ve been too tired to do too much. We realised the last time we actually did something just the two of us was back in September in Budapest!
Miss anything? Sleeping and walking normally…I try not to waddle, but it is getting harder as baby is engaging, I can feel their head in my pelvis! This is probably another reason as to why I can’t sleep very well in any position, even with a pillow between my legs. I always wake up flat on my back with back ache.
Movement: Lots of wiggles and kicks and punches. We had a proper Alien moment last weekend when we were both watching the baby move and an arm or a foot pushed up so far! If you have seen Alien, you know what I mean!
Food cravings: Nothing really, I’m still loving jam and the occasional milk shake.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Mostly the indigestion.
Gender: We will find out in 8 weeks or so!
Labour signs: Nope!
Symptoms: Still indigestion, tiredness and pelvic pain.
Belly button in or out? It is still in, but at the end of the day it starts to flatten where baby is pushing on it, so I wonder if it will pop out near the end?
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: I have been really grumpy this week. I can’t really pin it down to anything in particular. I guess it is just because I’m getting big and slow and it is getting me down. I can’t wait until our baby is here, it is all very much worth the wait.
Looking forward to: Next Saturday we are spending the day in Brighton with our friends for a joint birthday celebration. The end of November is my husband and best friends birthday, so we always celebrate together. I’m hoping that it doesn’t rain, and that everyone can put up with how slow I am haha! Hopefully I can last the day!

31 Week Update! 9 weeks to go!

How far along?  31 weeks today 🙂
Total weight gain/measurements: I still haven’t weighed myself but my bump is measuring right on time!
Maternity clothes: I ordered a couple of dresses from ASOS to wear for some up coming events. One is black, one is teal, both are very comfy and show off my bump nicely!
Stretch marks: None so far, I have been getting itchy at the base of my bump, I’m doing well though and not scratching it!
Sleep: I haven’t slept much at all this week, although I have been doing my exercises for my pelvic pain it still hurts a lot at night. I end up waking up too early, in pain and it is pretty much impossible to get back to sleep. If I wasn’t at work all day I would definitely be napping in the afternoon!
Best moment this week: My best moment this week was my midwife appointment yesterday. She measured my bump and we are right on time, so that reassured me after having all the comments last week about how small I am! Although I have definitely had a growth spurt in the last couple of days, I am feeling massive! She also told me that baby is still head down and is getting ready to engage – how exciting! But also uncomfortable and is probably the reason why my pelvic pain has worsened!
Miss anything? Being able to walk to work in 10-15 minutes, not half an hour or more, trying not to waddle too much!
Movement: Still very wiggly! Mostly below and around my belly button because baby is very low and getting into position head down. Baby is pretty much staying in the same place and just wiggling around from there! Their back is on the right of my stomach and I get punches and kicks all the way up and down my left side!
Food cravings: Nothing in particular!
Anything making you queasy or sick? Most food, everything is giving me indigestion which is probably why I am not having any specific cravings!
Gender: It’s a surprise!
Labour signs: Nope!
Symptoms: Indigestion, tiredness and pelvic pain 😦
Belly button in or out? In!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: I’ve not really been moody, just emotional!
Looking forward to: Relaxing this weekend! I can’t wait just to sit around doing nothing!

30 week update – 10 weeks to go!

How far along?  30 weeks and 3 days
Total weight gain/measurements: I have not weighed myself this week. My midwife hasn’t weighed me since my booking appointment at 8 weeks, so I am sure I am doing well!
Maternity clothes: Nothing new this week. I’m going to need something to wear for my husbands birthday so I’ll have to do some online shopping I think!
Stretch marks: Nothing new.
Sleep: I’ve not slept too badly this week, because I realised that I will sleep all night if I fall asleep on my right side, which I shouldn’t really be doing because of my pelvic pain. Also I woke up dizzy this morning. I just can’t win!
Best moment this week: I’ve got a couple of things this week but the moment that trumps them all is the arrival of my nephew!! He was born on Thursday morning! Sadly I won’t be able to meet him until our little one has arrived! Pop over to my sisters blog, she won’t be posting for a little while, but I’m sure she will have a lot of baby related things to share when she is ready! One more thing this week is that I passed my driving theory test! I didn’t tell anyone I was taking it because I was so nervous about it haha! I’m not sure when I’ll be able to take my practical, as I’m getting tired again I don’t think I’ll be able to keep up with lessons for too much longer. We’ll see!
Miss anything? I’m missing the rest that I had while I was signed off last week. Working this week was really hard. Roll on my maternity leave. 5 weeks 4 days to go! Not that I’m counting!
Movement: Baby has been incredibly busy in there for the last few days. As I type this I can feel an arm going back and forth above my pelvic bone, it’s not the most comfortable kind of movement! Baby has also taken an interest in my left hip, constantly poking it! New name this week: Bam bam!
Food cravings: I still haven’t had that much of an appetite. I can’t get enough of tea though.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Other than meat, some of baby’s movements! The baby is taking up a lot of room in there which is having an effect on my digestive system, and I have been having a lot of indigestion.
Gender: We don’t know!
Labour signs: Not yet!
Symptoms: Indigestion and tiredness this week!
Belly button in or out? In!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Erm well, this week I have been quite moody and emotional. I think it is because I’m getting tired again and I have had a couple of anxiety’s about our baby’s arrival. I just want to make sure everything is OK and our baby is delivered safely with no problems. I’m guessing it is only natural as baby’s due date is getting nearer! One things for sure, I’m definitely more excited than I am anxious, I can’t wait to meet our baby!
Looking forward to: My midwife appointment on Wednesday. A lot of people have been commenting on how small my bump is so it will be nice to get some reassurance. I think I am small, but I think it is because of the way my body is and how the baby is laying. I’m all bump and I don’t have any fat on my stomach.
I don’t have a photo this week – mainly because when I haven’t been at work I have been living in my PJ’s and I have just forgotten to take a picture when I am decent haha! I don’t think I have changed too much since 28 weeks, maybe just a little rounder!

‘Do you know what you are having yet?’ – Questions and Comments

This is a question that I get asked on a daily basis, sometimes more than once and by the same person!

I get a lot of questions and comments, but this is the one that irritates me the most. Of course there are worse things that people can say, but I am tired of saying the same thing over and over again! I have even tried being cheeky and just saying ‘It’s a baby!!’ but then they say ‘Oh, so you didn’t want to know then.’ Gah!

I wish we did know the sex of our baby, but our baby did not want to tell us! We had an early scan in between the 12 week and 20 week scan, where our consultant guessed that our baby is a boy, but then at the 20 week scan baby’s umbilical cord was tucked conveniently between their legs, and so the consultant could not see any boy parts, and because of that she said maybe girl! So it really is 50/50 right now. We decided not to pay out for a private scan as they are pricey, we would rather spend that money on our baby. So we are waiting until we meet them and we will have a lovely surprise!

When I get asked this question I have to take a deep breath, and calmly explain for the 10 billionth time the reason why we don’t know whether our baby is a girl or a boy!

Everyone I know is having fun guessing the gender. Most people think our baby is a boy because of the way I am carrying (out front and low). Matt’s Nan thinks we are having a girl because the baby is a little fidget. One of my work friends thinks I’m having a girl because of the way I’m carrying. Another thinks I am having a boy because I didn’t have any morning sickness I have craved dairy…I think it is pretty much safe to say that these old wives tales are a load of balony!

But of course I’ve done all the of the gender predictor tests online! It’s all harmless fun, totally unreliable, but it did make me giggle!

The Chinese Chart says Boy
Netmums says BoyBabymed.com says 60% girl 40% boy
Babycentre.co.uk says Boy
Mayan predictor says boy

There are some other crazy tests you can do like mixing your urine with baking soda or mixing your urine with red cabbage water?! I definitely won’t be giving those a try, it’s just a little bit too weird! There is the wedding ring trick, where you tie it to a piece of string and dangle it above your bump. If it swings from side to side baby is a boy, if it spins in circles baby is a girl. I did try this one and it went from side to side, so that is another point for boy!

As I said before these are just for fun, the only way we will know is by meeting our little one, and I can’t wait!

Just look at that beautiful profile!
